His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, the Deputy Sultan this morning paid his last respects to Allahyarham Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Muhammad Zain bin Haji Serudin, Former Minister of Religious Affairs in Kampung Lambak. Allahyarham passed away last night at Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre, PJSC at the age of 88.
His Royal Highness performed the 'jenazah' or funeral prayer led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar. By the command of His Majesty, Allahyarham was bestowed the position of 'Manteri 16' which carried the title of 'Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Wangsa.' Allahyarham was then promoted to 'Manteri 8,' which carried the title of 'Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Diraja,' and then promoted to Manteri 4, with the title 'Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja.' Allahyarham was also bestowed with several State Decorations and Honorary Medals.
